'theatre arts'

The artistic directors at the Rosemary Branch are Cecilia Darker and Cleo Sylvestre. On the Rosemary Branch website they outline the following policy: We aim to present an eclectic mix of theatre arts to stimulate and entertain our loyal audiences and develop new ones. Opera, new plays, classics, cabaret and all manner of things in between are selected very carefully to maintain our reputation for high quality which we have nurtured since we took over in 1996. We do one in house production a year and occasionally co-produce with companies we have worked with before. The Little Theatre was a theatre company founded at Jacksonville, Florida. in 1919, then incorporated as The Little Theatre of Jacksonville in 1926. Cigar magnate Carl Swisher was the benefactor for a new building, which was started in 1927. It was more than ten years before the first performance was staged at the new facility. On January 4, 1938, Boy meets Girl opened in what is now a historic U.S. theater located at 2032 San Marco Boulevard. In early 1969, the company name was changed to Theatre Jacksonville, Inc. and the theatre re-incorporated. Mayor Hans Tanzler issued a proclamation naming Theatre Jacksonville as Jacksonville's Official Theatre in 1972, a distinction reconferred by all succeeding mayors.
